Herb, 20cm tall and upright. Flowers white to 3m in diameter. Styles 2.
Open stony ground with Picea, Betula and diverse herbs.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.6, V. L. Komarov and Lazkov, G. A. Family Caryophyllaceae in Kyrgyzstan Semeistco gvozdchnye vo flore Kyrgystana. Basal leaves in a dense rosette. Cauline ones spaced, lanceolate to 18x 1.5mm. Inflorescence glabrous with erect branches. Bracts and bracteoles with membranous margin. Calyx tubular with 5 ribs and a membranous margin between each lobe. Corolla slightly longer than the calyx. Style 2. Capsule opening with 4 apical teeth. Seeds reniform attached in the middle to the placentas. Seeds granulate. Synonym Tunica stricta (Bge.) Fisch et Mey.
