Shrub 1.5m tall, spreading to 1m. Berries surrounded by the accrescent bracts and bracteoles, blue-black with whitish bloom.
in a large young morraine with Rosa, Salix, Tamarix, Erigeron and Poaceae.
Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.23, V. L. Komarov. Leaves opposite, obovate, ciliate and with appressed hairs. Stem reddish, ciliate. Bark exfoliating. Pith of branches white and solid. Axillary buds large with two outer scales. Berries paired enclosed in the fleshy bracts. Only the two calyces are sometimes emerging at the top. Seeds many in each berry. Belongs to L. caerulea L. complex and possibly should be named caerulea. Only stenantha form is listed in the Flora of Kyrgysztan
