Gazetteer: Kara-Balta Valley 
Coordinates: 42º35'47'' N, 73º52'21'' E  Alt: 1401m  7.5 km south of Sosnovka.

20cm tall, strongly aromatic herb. Flowers pale mauve with darker flecks.
Dry mountain slope with sparse patchy vegetation to 50cm tall.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.21, V. L. Komarov. Perennial covered with glands, mint scented when touched. Leaves lanceolate, ovate, petiolate and short hairy. Flowers capitate. Calyx 14 veined, with 5 lobes at apex. Calyx tube with hairs inside closing the throat. Corolla slightly protruding from the calyx, bilabiate with slightly bilobed upper lobe. Flower with only 2 fertile stamens. Stigmas bilobed with one shorter branch. Nutlets brown, smooth with large areole at base.
