1.5m tall shrub, in fruit. Foliage not aromatic. Berries dark purplish-red some unripe.
River bank with tall shrubs-trees of Betula, Berberis, Ribes, Salix. Also Ligularia, Rubus, Geum, Aegopodium.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.9, V. L. Komarov. Unarmed shrub with yellow new shoots. Leaves orbicular with cordate base, 5 lobed, glabrous on both sides. Leaves yellow punctate abaxially and with glandular hairs but not dotted with glands. Flowers in a 2-5cm long pendant raceme, 5-10 flowered. Pedicels 1.5-2mm, hairy. Berry violet-black, acrid.
