Herb to 10cm tall, growing in mound. Inflorescence glandular. Flowers with 2 bracteoles. Bracts to 15mm long, dull purple, hairy. Corolla white with purple-spotted lip. Lip deeply folded. 4 fertile stamens.
Alpine exposed rocky hill at the top of the pass E to NE facing. With Astragalus, Pulsatilla, Silene, Allium.
Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.18, V. L. Komarov. Creeping. rhizomatous herb. Leaves ovate, rounded with circular teeth. Leaf margin revolute, puberulent. Flowers in verticillasters forming a globular, ovoid head. Bracts pinnatifid, red-purple, longer than the flowers. The terminal lobe of the bract broader. Calyx 2 lipped, upper lobe broader than lower lip.
