Herb to 30cm tall. Leaves, scapes and calyx white farinose. Petioles pinkish-purple. Flowers fragrant, purple with darker corolla mouth. Calyx very dark green.
Alpine mountain ridge with Polygonum (Bistorta), Dracocephalum, Rhodiola, Erigeron, Androsace, Sibbaldia, Poaceae.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.18, V. L. Komarov. Plant with bulb-like base formed by overlapping leaf bases. Leaves in a rosette. Leaves farinose and denticulate along margin. Scape with 2 whorls of flowers. Calyx as long or shorter than the corolla, tube farinose inside. Corolla lobes entire. Pedicels long and farinose. Capsule oblong, 1.5 times as long as the calyx, opening with terminal membranous teeth. Seeds tuberculate. Synonym P. turkestanica (Regel) E.A.White.
