15cm tall grass. Inflorescences purplish.
Alpine mountain ridge with Polygonum (Bistorta), Dracocephalum, Rhodiola, Erigeron, Androsace, Sibbaldia, Poaceae.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.2, V. L. Komarov. Leaves broad. Ligule membranous. Culm densely hairy below inflorescence. Inflorescence a compact ovoid panicle, red-purple. Spikelets 2 flowered with short hairy rachilla. Glumes unequal. Lemma bifid at apex with a scabrid margin and an awn inserted in the notch.Awn bent twice as long as the spikelet.
