Perennial rosette plant with very long and narrow taproot growing through the loose scree. Scape stemless. Flowers purple.
E facing slate scree with Codonopsis, Lonicera, Juniperus, Papaver, Rosa.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.12, V. L. Komarov. Sect. protoxytropis. Leaves imparipinnate, densely silvery hairy. Leaflets 5-10 pairs. Stipules fused to the top but not fused to the petiole. Raceme densely flowered, twice as long as the leaves. Corolla purple, banner emarginate, keel with short beak to 1mm long. Calyx with long white hairs and appressed black ones. O. savelanica has smaller leaflets and grows as a cushion.
