Coordinates: 42º33'26'' N, 74º28'57'' E  Alt: 2206m 

Shrub to 2m tall. Leaves coriaceous, hairy. Vegetative buds large and stem pinkish. Pith solid and white. Bracteoles large with paired orange berries underneath. Berries glandular hairy.
Rock outcrop along the river with Picea, Betula and Lonicera.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.23, V. L. Komarov. Berries paired but not fused together enclosed by two large free and ciliate bracts. Leaves entire, ovate, thick, with a ciliate margin and appressed hairs. Branches with solid white pith. Bark exfoliating. New shoots with two apical axillary buds, the terminal aborted. Winter buds longer than petioles and with two large scales outside.
