1.5m tall herbaceous, tuberous. Leaves mostly basal, deeply lobed. Flowers in dense terminal raceme. Flowers purple/ blue. Hood of upper sepal longer than wide. Honey-leaves/ nectaries curled at apex. Follicles 3.
Large boulders above small seasonal stream with Clematis, Rubus, Lonicera, Rosa, Persicaria and Campanula.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.7, V. L. Komarov. Subgenus Lycoctonum: Upper sepal with hood longer than wide and plant tuberous. Leaves to 20cm across, three lobed and dissected to base. Leaf blade cordate at base, with curled hairs to 0.5 mm long on abaxial side. Honey-leaves long with curved spur and a distinct limb. Sepals blue-grey. Stamens many with winged filaments
