Coordinates: 42º11'41'' N, 73º15'03'' E  Alt: 2780m  to the south of Otmök.


Creeping herb with reddish stems. Leaves sessile, glaucous. Schizocarp echinulate, style free to base. Cyathium glands rounded, brown-orange.
Alpine grazed meadow on a North facing slope with Phlomis, Geranium, Poaceae and Papaver as dominant species.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.14, V. L. Komarov. Perennial with thick root, many tufted stems and remains of last year's stems. Cauline leaves alternate, cuneate at base finely serrated at apex, 1 veined. Inflorescence umbellate once, bracts similar to leaves. Leaves of involucel always 3. Cyathium campanulate glabrous outside and inside with dentate reddish lobes. Glands elliptic and glabrous. Schizocarp globose with conical processes. Seeds grey-brown, smooth with large caruncle. Style free, stigmas lobed only at apex and not thickened. Close to E. pachyrrhiza Kar. et Kir. which has two involucel leaves and different styles.
