Shrub 3-4m tall, growing on the tall river banks. Stem erect at the base strongly six-ribbed and bark exfoliating. Shrubs 3-4 on this side of the river mostly fruiting but a few branches with flowers. Flowers with 4 lobed corolla, hairy mouth, white. Corolla tube reddish abaxially. Stigmas green, anthers 4, inserted. Fragrant. Ovaries with 4 persistent calyx lobes. Calyx lobes broad 1 nerved. Fruits unripe.
River bank with tall shrubs-trees of Betula, Berberis, Lonicera, Ribes, Amygdalus, Salix. Also Sanguisorba, Ligularia, Rubus, Geum, Aegopodium.
