Small shrub to 1m tall. Leaves serrate, felted beneath. Drupes axillary, solitary bright red. Flesh edible and sweet.
Very dry South facing slope on conglomerate rocks with Eremurus, Celtis, Prangos, Centaurea, Alcea, Convolvulus.
Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.10, V. L. Komarov. Subgen. Cerasus. Leaves 20-25 x 5-6mm, white tomentose beneath, dentate with glandular teeth and revolute margin. Stipules long and serrate. Petiole 2-3mm long. Leaves on short shoots.Drupe red to 7mm in diameter opaque. Drupe with one pitted, furrowed torulose stone inside. Drupe hairy at apex. Pedicels 1-2mm long. Cerasus is a difficult group to identify close to C. erythrocarpa but with smaller leaves and revolute margin. But this looks more like a result of the drier habitat.
