Biennial growing in the river shingles. Basal rosette of leaves glaucous, cauline leaves amplexicaule. Flowers bright yellow, calyx hirsute deciduous. Capsule to 10cm long with cup shaped stigmas.
Dried river bed with large boulders.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.7, V. L. Komarov. Sepals covered with scales. Corolla of 4 large petals only yellow. Fruit an elongated capsule to 20cm long, arcuate, dehiscing by 2 valves from top to bottom. Septum spongiose. Ovary covered in erect acicular, squamiform bristles. Stigmas with two large horizontal horns. Leaf lyrately pinnatifid, glaucous, thick, lobes aristate. Close to G. flavum but leaves lobes are aristate.
