5-10cm tall fruiting herbaceous plant. Fruits with 2 divergent spines at the top. Leaves linear lanceolate mostly withered. Fruits in the axil of every single leaf and node.
Desert type vegetation with Amaranthaceae, Artemisia, Echinops, Cerasus.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.6, V. L. Komarov. Monoecious annual. the two first flowers just after the cotyledons are female and develop a woody indehiscent capsule with one seed. Every other flower at the axil of each leaf is male. Bracteoles 2 fused together and enclosing the flower. Bracteoles accrescent in fruit in both male and female flower but they are ruptured by the capsule in the female flower. Bracteoles covered in stellate hairs, flat in the aborted male flowers. Leaves linear, narrow and long, hairy.
