Coordinates: 41º23'48'' N, 71º24'11'' E  Alt: 1221m 

Shrub 40-50cm tall. Leaves alternate with a long spine in the axil. Spines twice as long as the glaucous, entire and rounded leaves. Flowers bright purple-red without markings. Banner wings and keel equal.
Dry hill along the road with Xanthium, Echinops, Chenopodiaceae, Caragana.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.13, V.L. Komarov and Yakovlev, Bot.J.URSS 64:1978. 1979. Plant glaucous. Leaves simple with 2 small hairy stipules at base. Spines axillary, long. Spines also terminal with 3-8 flowers on them. Calyx teeth conspicuous. Fruit not seen. Genus in need of a revision, possibly all names refer to maurorum
