Small shrubby plant to 50cm tall. Leaves white felted abaxially. Flowers in whorls in the axis of leaves. Calyx aristate. Corolla hairy, purple, withered but persistent and dry. Bracts linear almost as long as the whorls. Nutlets only one with three nectaries on one side.
Herbaceous community dominated by Prangos, Artemisia with Bupleurum, Chenopodiaceae, Centaurea.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.21, V. L. Komarov. Sect. Euphlomis. Leaves cuneate at base densely grey stellate hairy abaxially, subglabrous adaxially. Corolla purple. Upper corolla lip not bearded and compressed laterally. Lateral lobes of lower lip smaller than middle lobe. Filament appendage upcurved and long. Stigmas with unequal lobes.
