Small woody shrub with creeping or semi-erect branches. Leaves narrow with recurved margins. Inflorescence axillary corymb with 5-6 pendant flowers. Sepals red. Flowers 2-5mm across. Nectary disc conspicuous.
Damp meadow with tall grass community with Ligularia, Rhinanthus, Hippophae, Betula, Crataegus.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.4, V. L. Komarov. Evergreen low creeping shrub. Stem ribbed. Leaves narrow, rounded, cordate at base and short petiolate, glabrous and entire. Leaves alternate or whorled. Flowers in cymes, 4-merous. Stamens without filaments and with transversal anthers. Very close to E.nana M.B. from N. Caucasus and Mongolia and possibly conspecific.
