Coordinates: 42º03'58'' N, 71º35'44'' E Alt: 2247m after the bridge in the camp site along the river.
Erect herb with aromatic leaves lemon scented. Leaves crenate. Flowers in long terminal whorls. Corolla purple-violet. Lip lower corolla lobes bilobed with hairs and markings. Calyx purple hairy.
Damp meadow along the Chatkal river in the shade of tall Populus, Betula trees with Berberis, Carex, Cirsium, Mentha.
Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.20, V. L. Komarov. Perennial with obtuse leaves. Leaves acute, cordate at base, hairy. Flowers in remote verticillasters. Bracts lanceolate. Calyx campanulate, 5 toothed and 2 lipped without thick appendages in sinus but with golden sessile glands and thick hairs. Corolla purple with tube expanded gradually from tube to limb. Lower lip twice as long as upper, emarginate. Lower lobe of lower lip with bulging base and slightly serrate margin. Nutlets three angled minutely tuberculate. Very difficult genus with many species close to N. buccharica or mariae.
