Plant to 20cm -1m tall. Leaves 1-3 sheathing at base. Tunics fibrous brown and acuminate. Spathe persistent purplish, transparent. Inflorescence globular. Flower with 6 equal yellow-green tepals with a dark green line running in the middle of each tepal. Filaments fused around the top of the ovary, anthers purple. Ovary purplish. Perianth persistent in fruit.
Alpine mountain ridge with Polygonum (Bistorta), Dracocephalum, Rhodiola, Erigeron, Androsace, Sibbaldia, Poaceae.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.4, V. L. Komarov. Bulbs 1 or 2 attached to thick vertical rhizome. Tunics brown fibrous. Sheath red entire. Leaves flat to 5-15mm broad, smooth. Umbel many-flowered with pedicels of unequal length. Tepals persistent yellow drying orange, acuminate. Inner tepals narrower than outer ones. Filaments 1/4 the length of the perianth connate to 3/4. Seeds two in each locule, black and rugose.
