Plant growing amongst rocks. Perennial with strong taproot present. Leaves, thick, glaucous mostly basal and erect. Scape to 50cm tall. Capitula in a raceme. Phyllaries in 1 row hairy. Capitula radiate with yellow female ligulate florets on the edge and yellow tubular florets in the middle. Cypsela with white unbranched but scabrous pappus hairs.
Alpine mountain ridge with Polygonum (Bistorta), Dracocephalum, Rhodiola, Erigeron, Androsace, Sibbaldia, Poaceae.
Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.26, V. L. Komarov. Leaves entire, thick glaucous petiolate. Inflorescence with 5-7 capitula. Styles with hairs on the back. Pappus as long as the florets, white and scabrous. Receptacle glabrous with pits and no scales. Phyllaries in two rows, inner rows broader with scarious margin, outer narrower without margin. Close to L. altaica but has slightly more hairy phyllaries.
