Plant to 14cm tall. Leaves mostly basal to 12mm long and lanceolate. Cauline leaves 1-2. Stem covered with brown short hairs. Calyx inflated with 5 purple primary veins and many secondary veins in between. Petals yellow-green incurved in bud, bilobed. Carpophore short, style 3, stamens as long as the calyx tube. Petals with scale in the middle.
Alpine mountain ridge with Polygonum (Bistorta), Dracocephalum, Rhodiola, Erigeron, Androsace, Sibbaldia, Poaceae.
Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.6, V. L. Komarov and Lazkov, G. A. Family Caryophyllaceae in Kyrgyzstan Semeistco gvozdchnye vo flore Kyrgystana. Gastrolychnis or Melandrium. Calyx tubular, inflated 10 veined with commissural veins, covered with black multicellular hairs. Styles 5, ovary with short carpophore. Petals long-clawed and ciliate at base, limb slightly exserted from calyx. Flowers nodding at anthesis erect in fruit. Seeds more or less winged, smooth to reticulate.
