Rhizomatous perennial with fibrous scales at base. Leaves 1-pinnate. Leaflets fan-shaped. Sheath long and reddish. Scape to 50cm tall, stems ribbed and purple. Umbels twice compound, bracts none but bracteoles many and forming a large involucre around the flowers. Flowers all bisexual, stylopodium brown, schizocarps ribbed and slightly winged. Petals white, sepals shorter and brown.
Alpine mountain ridge with Polygonum (Bistorta), Dracocephalum, Rhodiola, Erigeron, Androsace, Sibbaldia, Poaceae.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.16, V. L. Komarov and Pimenov, M.G. (1937- ) The Umbelliferae of Kirghyzia Zontichnye (Umbelliferae) Kirgizii. Umbels of 3-5 equal umbellules. Involucre 0 or with one bract leaf-like. Involucel bracts broadly ovate longer than the umbellules.
