Tiny gentian to 5cm tall and with a single slender stem. Leaves opposite, rounded. Calyx 5 lobed divided to base, 3/4 the length of the corolla. Corolla green inside, pale blue inside. Corolla 4 lobed with hairs closing the mouth. Corolla mouth square-shaped.
Alpine meadow with Phlomis and Alchemilla as dominants.

Identification Notes: Verified with Flora of the USSR. Vol.22, V. L. Komarov. Sect comastoma. Annual with unbranched stem except at base. Leaves rosulate at base but also opposite along the stem. Flowers 4-merous on long pedicels. Calyx spurred at base and half the length of the corolla. Corolla blue-orange nerved when dry. Corolla lobes with fringed scales fused on them at the mouth.
