Lonicera pilosa (Kunth) Spreng. f. schaffneri Rehder

Location:San Luis Potosi, Cerro de San Miguelito, above Privadas de Pedregal.
Coordinates: 22°05'08" N, 100°59'57" W Alt: 2344m

Climber twining to 2.5 m high, stems layering on the ground. Leaves and petioles purple tinged. Leaves glaucous above, whitish below. Stems hollow. Young stems orange or cream, purple tinged. Older stems with grey peeling bark. Specimen with very immature buds, terminal inflorescence.
Quercus woodland (encino), canopy 3-4 m tall, with Dasylirion, Arctostaphylos and Salvia. Geology: igneous rock. Growing on Quercus grisea on a N-facing slope 30º, with large rocks.

Identification Notes: Verified with Jose Angel Villarreal Q. 2000 'Flora del Bajio y de Regiones Adyacentes' Vol. 88. Subgenus Periclymenum subsection Phenianthi. Leaves pilose abaxially, not coriaceous. Inflorescence a pedunculate spike of sessile three flowered cymes. Involucral bract amplexicaule. Bracts and bracteoles shorter than ovaries. Calyx and ovaries glandular hairy.
