Helianthemum patens Hemsl.

Location:San Luis Potosi, Cerro de San Miguelito, above Privadas de Pedregal.
Coordinates: 22°05'09" N, 100°59'58" W Alt: 2324m

Shrub 10-30 cm tall. Flowers yellow, 12 mm diameter. Anthers orange. Sepals tinged pink, 3 large, 2 narrow.
Quercus woodland (encino), canopy 3-4 m tall, with Dasylirion, Arctostaphylos and Salvia. Geology: igneous rock. Growing in rocks, gravel and sand in open areas.

Identification Notes: Verified with Graciela Calderón de Rzedowsk 1992 'Flora del Bajio y de Regiones Adyacentes' Vol. 2. Plant densely stellate pubecsent. Flowers solitary and axillary not in terminal inflorescences. Sepals 3 sometimes with 2 reduced ones. Stamens more than 10, style short and stigmas feathery.
