Location:San Luis Potosi, Cerro de San Miguelito, above Privadas de Pedregal. Canada de Lobos.
Coordinates: 22°05'34" N, 100°00'18" W Alt: 2250m

Flowering stems 20-45 cm tall. Leaf blades often purple-tinged. Spikelets green with pink hairs.
Disturbed sandy area grazed by horses and donkeys. Geology: igneous rock. Open area with Poaceae. Rocky SW-facing slope 20º.

Identification Notes: Verified with Calderon, G. & Rzedowski, J. 2001 'Flora fanerogamica del Valle de Mexico'. Inflorescence a panicle. Spikes 2-flowered, disarticulating below the glumes. Glumes with silky pink or white hairs. Inferior flower sterile with membranous lemma. Upper flower fertile with cartilaginous lemma. Ligule of long hairs.
