Jatropha dioica Sessé

Location:San Luis Potosi, Cerro de San Miguelito, above Privadas de Pedregal. Canada de Lobos.
Coordinates: 22°05'50" N, 101°00'32" W Alt: 2230m

Shrub, 50 cm tall, with single stems rising from the ground. Stems purple brown. Female plant in fruit, fruits green, immature. Indicator of grazing pressure.
Disturbed sandy area grazed by horses and donkeys. Geology: igneous rock. Rocky SW-facing slope 20º, with Telocactus.

Identification Notes: Verified with Rzedwoski, G.C. & J. 2001 'Flora fanerogamica del Valle de Mexico'. Leaves grouped into fascicules.Fruit apculate, slightly winged on ventral side with a single seed. Female plant.
