Location:San Luis Potosi. On Route 70 from San Luis Potosi to Rio Verde. On the north side of the road.
Coordinates: 22°03'55" N, 100°36'46" W Alt: 2238m

Rosette herb with fleshy roots. Leaves pale beneath. Flower heads nodding. Phyllaries purple tinged. Ligulate flowers white inside, purple tinged outside. Tubular flowers white.
Quercus mexicana woodland with Rhus and Crataegus.

Identification Notes: Verified with Nesom, G. 1995 'Revision of Chaptalia (Asteraceae: Mutisieae) from North America and continental Central America' Phytologia 78:153-188. Tribe Mutisieae. Scape ebracteate. Leaves lanceolate-ovate densely wooly abaxially, glabrescent adaxially. Capitula nodding at anthesis, radiate with bilabiate florets. Outer florets ligulate, female in two whorls, inner florets almost actinomorphic. Phyllaries equal in several rows, acute. Cypsela with sparse short thick hairs, neck 1/3 to 1/2 as long as basal part. Difficult genus.
