Location:Queretaro, Lagunita de San Diego.
Coordinates: 21°24'59" N, 99°07'45" W Alt: 2141m

Erect herb 35 cm tall. Stems purple. Corolla blue-purple with white central patch on lower lip.
Pinus forest with Pinus gregii, Arbutus xalapensis, Cupressus lusitanica, Rhus aromatica, Litsea glaucescens, Quercus obtusata, Q. affinis, Cornus, Aphananthe. Growing on rocks with Vesalea grandifolia, under dead Pinus and Litsea.

Identification Notes: Verified with Epling, C. 1942. 'The American species of Scutellaria' Univ. Calif. Publ. Bot. 20: 1–146. Section Uliginosae. Flowers in a terminal raceme like inflorescence but not opposite. Stems with short decurved hairs and long spreading hairs. Leaves toothed. Calyx with a hood like appendage on upper lobe. Corolla to 20mm long, stamens 4; 2 with bilocular anthers and ciliate thecae, 2 with unilocular anther and ciliate thecae. Does key out as S. blepharophylla but maybe intermediate with oaxacana or part of an unresolved complex of species.
