Hedeoma costatum Gray var. costatum

Location:Queretaro, Lagunita de San Diego.
Coordinates: 21°24'59" N, 99°07'45" W Alt: 2141m

Erect herb. Leaves aromatic when crushed. Calyx purple tinged towards apex. Corolla purple with purple and white markings on lower lip.
Pinus forest with Pinus gregii, Arbutus xalapensis, Cupressus lusitanica, Rhus aromatica, Litsea glaucescens, Quercus obtusata, Q. affinis, Cornus, Aphananthe. Growing under dead Pinus and in clearing.

Identification Notes: Verified with Irving, R.S. 1980 'The Systematics of Hedeoma' Sida 81:218. Subgenus Saturejoides. Leaves margin toothed, veins raised and arcuate. Flowers in terminal cymules. Calyx bulging at base, teeth lanceolate, lower one longer than upepr ones. Corolla to 12mm long, upper long recurved. Flowers with only 2 stamens. Nutlets light brown sligthly glaucous and alveolate, longer than wide.
