Pilea pubescens Liebm.

Location:San Luis Potosi, Xilitla, near La Trinidad.
Coordinates: 21°23'40" N, 99°02'41" W Alt: 1462m

Herb 5 cm tall, erect to ascending. Flowers green with white, papillate stigmas.
Cloud forest with Liquidamber, Podocarpus and Quercus affinis. Forest floor. Growing under Podocarpus matudae, in moss on rock.

Identification Notes: Verified with Monro, A. K. Synopsis of Mesoamerican Pilea (Urticaceae), including eighteen typifications and a key to the species. Bull. Nat. Hist. Mus. Lond. (Bot.) 31: 9-25. 2001 and Victor W. Steinmann 2005 'Flora del Bajio y de Regiones Adyacentes' Vol. 134. Leaves opposite and of similar sizes. Stipules braodly ovate. Leaves with cistolithes. Inflorescence monoecious with female flowers. Tepals 3 fused at base. Stigmas digitate. Achenes ovoid with a short beak.
