Location:San Luis Potosi, Xilitla, near La Trinidad.
Coordinates: 21°24'04" N, 99°04'06" W Alt: 1870m

Erect herb 2 m tall. Flowers and deciduous bracts bright pink.
Pinus and Cupressus forest. Growing in rocks with Buddleja, Pinus and Cupressus.

Identification Notes: Verified with M. Epling, C. 1939 'A revision of Salvia subgenus Calosphace' Fedde Repert Sp. Nov. Beih. 110:1-388. Subgenus Calosphace, Section cardinales. Leaves cuneate to rounded at base. Inflorescence with large, pink deciduous bracts. Flowers to 30mm long, upper and lower lip equal. Stamens inserted within upper lip. Style hirsute, stigmatic branches unequal. Connective to 15mm long.
