Euphorbia sp.

Location:Puebla, Mpio Soltepec, between Acatzingo and San Salvador El Seco.
Coordinates: 19°04'03" N, 97°41'39" W Alt: 2377m

Sparse shrub 20 cm tall. Young stems pinkish. Inflorescence bracts white with dark red nectaries. White latex.
Pine forest with Pinus orizabensis, Quercus and Cupressus. Growing in a clearing with Cyperaceae.

Identification Notes: Verified with Wheeler, L.C. 1941 'Euphorbia subgenus Chamaesyce in Canada and the United States exclusive of Southern Florida' Rhodora. 43: 97-154. Subgenus Chamaesyce. Glands of involucre white with a dark red petaloid appendage. Leaves opposite with their bases asymetrical. Stipules membranous united into a white, glabrous membranous scale, lacerate at margin. Ovary glabrous. Species only recorded in Northern Mexico?
