Dahlia merckii Lehm.

Location:Puebla, Mpio San Salvador el Seco, San J. Barroso, between San Salvador El Seco and San Nicolas Buenos Aires.
Coordinates: 19°10'23" N, 97°36'30" W Alt: 2372m

Tuberous herb 60 cm tall and spread. Tubers translucent yellow inside. Ligulate flowers very pale mauve. Tubular flowers yellow.
Open volcanic rock and sand area. Growing with Mirabilis.

Identification Notes: Verified with Sorenson, P.D. 1969 'Revision of the genus Dahlia' Rhodora 71: 309-416. Tribe Heliantheae. Section Dahlia. Pinnules alternate on the leaf rachis. Petioles long and hollow. Capitulum radiate, ligules pink. Outer phyllaries recurved to spreading.
