Location:Veracruz, Mpio Tequila.
Coordinates: 18°43'22" N, 97°03'50" W Alt: 1835m

Erect shrub 3 m tall. Petioles pink tinged. Flowers white. Anthers pale yellow.
Roadside, ruderal, disturbed habitat at forest edge. Orange clay soil with Sambucus, Hypericum and Thalictrum.

Identification Notes: Verified with Bolli, R. 1994 'Revision of the genus Sambucus' Dissert. Bot. 223. Stem dark with lenticels. Inflorescence corymbose. Corolla rotate, style glabrous. Part of a difficult complex treated as a wide ranging species (S. nigra) by Bolli but sometimes distinguished as a separate species S. mexicana.
