Location:Veracruz, Mpio Tequila.
Coordinates: 18°43'22" N, 97°03'50" W Alt: 1835m

Straggling shrub. Flowers with 2 dark pink petals. Calyx green-veined with a rounded spur at the base. Stems with dark pink hairs.
Roadside, ruderal, disturbed habitat at forest edge. Orange clay soil with Sambucus, Hypericum and Thalictrum. Growing with Alchemilla and Centella.

Identification Notes: Verified with Shirley A. Graham 1991 'Flora de Veracruz: Lythraceae' Vol. 66. section Diploptychia. Leaves opposite with one flower at each node. Flowers alternating at each node. Hypanthium to 20mm long, saccate at base, lobes almost equal. Petals only two large and purplish.
