Location:Veracruz, Mpio Calcahualco, Barranco de San Miguel, Tlacotiopa.
Coordinates: 19°06'28" N, 97°12'07" W Alt: 2642m

Erect shrub 1.5 m tall. Young stems and leaves have purple-tipped hairs. Flowers red, urceolate. Stigma green. Anthers very pale yellow. Fruits dark purple, enclosed in red-tinged calyx.
Stream gorge with Pinus and Quercus forest. NE facing side of the gorge. Open area with Viburnum, Sambucus, Solanum, Ferns and Alchemilla. Growing with ferns in shade of Quercus.

Identification Notes: Verified with Michael Nee 1986 'Flora of Veracruz' Vol. 49. Hairs simple. Calyx pubescent.
