Philadelphus pueblanus S.Y.Hu

Location:Veracruz, Mpio Calcahualco, Barranco de San Miguel, Tlacotiopa.
Coordinates: 19°06'28" N, 97°12'07" W Alt: 2642m

Arching shrub 1 m tall. Stems purple-brown. Flowers nodding, sweet scented. Corolla white. Anthers yellow. Calyx whitish inside.
Stream gorge with Pinus and Quercus forest. NE facing side of the gorge. Path side, cut area with Solanum, Fuchsia, Cestrum, Thalictrum.

Identification Notes: Verified with Hu, Shiu-Ying. 1954. 'A monograph of the genus Philadelphus'. J. Arnold Arb. 35: 275-333. Flowers in short terminal racemes. Flowers 4 merous, calyx lanate adaxially. Ovary strigose. P. mexicanus, karwinskyanus and pueblanus are all very similar species occuring in the same area and possibly conspecific.
