Location:Jalisco, NNW of Bolaños.
Coordinates: 22°12'13" N, 103°52'59" W Alt: 2347m

Arching shrub 1.8 m tall. Bark peeling in long strips. Stems hollow. Flowers orange-red, pendent. Anthers yellow.
Open Quercus and Pinus forest with Pinus lumholtzii, Quercus radiata, Arctostaphylos pungens, Arbutus madrensis and Arbutus tessellata.

Identification Notes: Verified with Jose Angel Villarreal Q. 2000 'Flora del Bajio y de Regiones Adyacentes' Vol. 88. Subgenus Periclymenum subsection Phenianthi. Leaves pilose abaxially, not coriaceous. Inflorescence a pedunculate spike of sessile three flowered cymes. Involucral bract amplexicaule. Bracts and bracteoles shorter than ovaries. Corolla tubular almost actinomorphic, red and glandular. Corolla tube base bulging. Style and stamens exserted.
