Location:Jalisco, NNW of Bolaños.
Coordinates: 22°12'13" N, 103°52'59" W Alt: 2347m

Low shrub 20 cm tall. Flowers pink. Calyx pink. Petals white, minute, folded around the stamens. Fruits green, immature.
Open Quercus and Pinus forest with Pinus lumholtzii, Quercus radiata, Arctostaphylos pungens, Arbutus madrensis and Arbutus tessellata. Growing in rocks and leaf litter on a W-facing slope under Pinus and Quercus.

Identification Notes: Verified with Rafael Fernandez Nava 'Flora de Bajio y de Regiones Adyacentes' Vol. 43. Non spiny shrub. Leaves lanceolate, stipules entire semi-persitent and dark coloured. Flowers in terminal/ axillary fascicules. Petals white small, spathulate and emarginate at apex, stamens 5. Style to 1.5mm long. Calyx reddish later deciduous and cupular in fruit. Fruit a 1-2 seeded drupe with non peristent style. Usually recognised as Rhamnus but latest molecular work suggest Frangula is distinct.
