Location:Jalisco, NNW of Bolaños.
Coordinates: 22°12'13" N, 103°52'59" W Alt: 2347m

Herb 30 cm tall. Inflorescence nodding, pink. Flowers pink. Petals reflexed around the pedicel.
Open Quercus and Pinus forest with Pinus lumholtzii, Quercus radiata, Arctostaphylos pungens, Arbutus madrensis and Arbutus tessellata. Growing in rocks and leaf litter on a W-facing slope under Pinus and Quercus.

Identification Notes: Verifed with Woodson, R.E. 1954 'The North American species of Asclepias' Ann. Mo. Bot. Gard. 41:1-211 and Fishbein, M et al 2008 'Resurrection of Asceplias schaffneri a rare mexican Milkweed' Madrono 55:69-75. Subgenus Asclepias series exaltatae. Herbaceous with annual shoots. Leaves very narrow, opposite. Flowers laxly spreading to pendent. Corolla pink-purple reflexed. Corona stipitate, erect, convolute, cuculate narrow obconical more than twice as long as anthers. Corona apex dissected with 5 teeth. Horn attached at the base of the corona and sligthly exserted. Endemic to Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi and Zacatecas, first record in Jalisco?
