Location:Jalisco, NNW of Bolaños.
Coordinates: 22°12'13" N, 103°52'59" W Alt: 2347m

Herb 30-50 cm tall with thick, tuberous root. Inflorescence nodding. Petals greenish-yellow with purple veins, reflexed. Corona scales white.
Open Quercus and Pinus forest with Pinus lumholtzii, Quercus radiata, Arctostaphylos pungens, Arbutus madrensis and Arbutus tessellata. Growing in rocks and leaf litter on a W-facing slope under Pinus and Quercus.

Identification Notes: Verifed with Woodson, R.E. 1954 'The North American species of Asclepias' Ann. Mo. Bot. Gard. 41:1-211 and Fishbein, M. 2008 'A New, Diminutive, Mexican Milkweed (Asclepias, Apocynaceae s.l.)' NOVON 18: 43–47. Subgenus asclepiodella. Herbaceous with annual shoots. Leaves very narrow, opposite. Flowers pendent. Corolla green with purple veins. Gynostegium very shortly stipitate. Corona openy saccate with very prominent marginal auricles somewhat longer than the broadly obtuse median lobe. Horn attached at the base and sides of corona and slightly exserted. Close to the description of A. brachystephana Engelm. ex Torr.
