Location:Jalisco, NNW of Bolaños.
Coordinates: 22°10'24" N, 103°53'27" W Alt: 2556m

Erect shrub 1.5 m tall with spreading branches. Flowers pendent. Inflorescence, bracts and calyces pink. Corolla white. Leaves held erect, glaucous.
Open Quercus and Pinus forest with Pinus lumholtzii, Quercus radiata, Arctostaphylos pungens, Arbutus madrensis and Arbutus tessellata.

Identification Notes: Verified with Luteyn, J. L. 1995 'Ericaceae Part II. The superior-ovaried genera' Flora Neotropica Monograph 66: 365-383. Stems glaucous, leaves unilateral glaucous and with an entire margin. Flowers in axillary terminal racemes or solitray. Bracts reddish large. Calyx as long as corolla, bright red almost parted to base. Corolla urceolate, fleshy, white-pink. Filaments with scabrous margins, anthers with apical bifid appendages. Capsule glabrous.
