Location:Jalisco, NNW of Bolaños.
Coordinates: 21°53'07" N, 103°51'10" W Alt: 2254m

Small tree 1.8 m tall, single stemmed at base. Branches contorted. Bark flaking, orange-brown beneath. Flowers dark pink. Corolla tube pale at base.
Open Quercus and Pinus forest with Pinus lumholtzii, Quercus radiata, Juniperus durangensis, Arctostaphylos pungens, Arbutus madrensis and Arbutus tessellata.

Identification Notes: Verified with Luteyn, J. L. 1995 'Ericaceae Part II. The superior-ovaried genera' Flora Neotropica Monograph 66: 365-383. Leaves entire whorled apically. Inflorescence unbranched, terminal. Corolla urceolate, 5-merous. filaments ciliate and anthers with apical appendage. Ovary hairy. Fruits fleshy.
