Location:Jalisco, NNW of Bolaños.
Coordinates: 21°53'21" N, 103°49'52" W Alt: 1903m

Shrub, 40 cm height and spread. Flowers red with white hairs inside. Fruits green tinged purple.
Rock outcrop with Quercus, Gaultheria and Dodonaea viscosa.

Identification Notes: Verified with Graciela Calderón de Rzedowski 1995 'Flora del Bajio y de Regiones Adyacentes' Vol. 34. Hemiparasitic (on conifers) spiny shrub with alternate leaves. Flowers in axillary fascicules. Flowers functionally male. Flowers 4 merous, but with 8 stamens. Calyx shortly fused at base. Petals free and densely barbate adaxially. Fruit a one locular drupe.
