Notes: Verified with Thulin, M. 1999 'Flora of Somalia'. Buxus sect. Triceras. Leaves opposite leathery, glabrous. Flowers in short compact bracteate spikes, most inflorescences male with terminal one female. This plant has a single female flower at the apex and possibly two male flowers coming in the axil. Male flowers with 4 stamens and a rudimentary nectariferous ovary. Female flower with 3-locular ovary and 3 broad stigmas. There is only one species in Somalia differs from our Buxus by having only two male flowers in the axil of the female flower.

Field notes: Rocky Hill. Large evergreen shrub to 4m. Fls. yellow-gree, fruits dark red.
