Notes: Verified with flora of China online (www.eFloras.org). First and second year branchlets with lenticels. Leaves opposite with arcuate apex. Leaves glabrous but abaxially hairy in vein axils. Inflorescence a terminal corymb with large white sterile flowers at the margin. Flowers white, petals base truncate and not clawed. Stamens unequal. Ovary 2/3 inferior. Styles 3-4. Key out as H. xanthoneura in the Flora but this is part of the H. heteromalla complex of species which are sometimes accepted as distinct.
