Notes: Verified with Flora of China online draft (www.eFloras.org). Leaves opposite, entire, triplinerved. Flowers sessile, forming a terminal panicle composed of numerous whorled head-like cymes, with a pair of cymes of 3 flowers and a single terminal flower in each whorl. Corolla white, tubular, 5-lobed, slightly 2-labiate. Stamens 5, longer than corolla lobes. Ovary 3-loculed, 2 locules with numerous sterile ovules, remaining locule with 1 fertile ovule; styles hairy, stigmas discoid. Ovary crowned with persistent and enlarged calyx lobes.

Field notes: From a plant in Hangzhou bot. gdn, previously dug up from Zhejing Province Preserve. Present cultivated material all clonal stock derived from the above see Arnoldia Fall 1986.
