Notes:Verified with Flora of China online draft and Rehder, A.'Synopis of the Genus Lonicera', Annual Report, Missouri Botanical Garden. 14. 1903. Sect. Isoxylosteum, subsect. Microstylae. Low shrub. Branches with solid white pith. Leaves whorled by 3 sometimes opposite. Leaves oblong, glabrous, glaucous abaxially. Vegetative buds with many scales, inner one much longer and leaf like. Inflorescence axillary only at the base of the new shoots. Flowers paired not fused at the base. Bracteoles fused in a cupule, bracts lanceolate as long as the flowers. Sepals persistent, lanceolate. Corolla tubular, 5 lobed, pink-purple and fragrant. Style half the lenght of the hairy corolla tube. Berries red with 3-4 compressed seeds.

Field notes:Open alpine meadow on Tibetan Plateau with patches of Berberis, Spiraea and Lonicera. Low shrub to 0.5m, possibly grazed by yaks, leaf blue/grey 3.4cm long.
